Named after the16th century Venetian castle, the remains of which can be found just a short walk away, the small attractive traditional village of Kastellos sits on a hillside in an area of outstanding natural beauty and historical interest overlooking the plain with its abundance of olive, oak and mulberry trees approximately 11km inland to the south of the city port of Rethymno.
